1. The minimum qualifications,
eligibility, pay etc. for the posts of Professor, Associate
Professor and Assistant Professor shall be
strictly as prescribed by the UGC Regulations
(Minimum Qualifications for appointment of
teachers and other academic staff in
Universities and Colleges and Measures for
the Maintenance of Standards in Higher
Education) 2010 as issued and amended from
time to time. Same may be accessed at
www.ugc.ac.in. The candidates will also have to submit
their API scores in the UGC
prescribed format as applicable along with
their application form with all supporting selfattested
documents.
Apart from the above, the
following are the Desirable Qualifications with respect to
eligibility regarding
recruitment to the following disciplines / positions:
(a) Comparative Literature:
Professor: Ph.D. in Comparative Literature or
in the field of Literary Studies in
English. Must be prepared to develop teaching
and research activities in European
and Indian Literary (Sanskrit and other
Bhasha) Traditions and inter-semiotic
comparative studies. Must possess developed
research interest in any of the Indian
languages and demonstrate bi- or
multi-lingual competence.
Associate and Assistant
Professor: Master’s
degree in Comparative Literature or
Literary Studies in English. Must be
competent in literary/cultural theory and history.
Must be willing to teach and develop
researches in comparative studies of Indian
and European literary traditions. Must
possess developed research interest in any of
the Indian languages and demonstrate bi- or
multi-lingual competence.
(b) India Studies:
Professor: Ph.D. (in the English language) in
any of the domains of the Humanities
(Literary Studies, Philosophy, History,
Culture, Art). Must be well-versed in debates
about Orientalism, Indology, Postcolonial
Studies and Cultural Theory. Must be
prepared to develop teaching and research
activities in the domain of India Studies
beyond the limits of Orientalism and
Indology. Must possess competence in any of
the Classical Indian languages to
undertake/supervise original research.
Associate and Assistant
Professor: Master’s
degree in (English language) in any
of the domains of the Humanities (Literary
Studies, Philosophy, History, Culture, Art,
Comparative Thought.) Must have competence to
work in Indian Literary and
Cultural (visual, performance, musical)
traditions. Must be grounded in
contemporary scholarly debates about
representations of India. Must possess
competence in any of the Classical (including
Sanskrit) Indian languages to
undertake/supervise original research.
(c) Philosophy and Aesthetics:
Associate Professor: Ph.D. in Philosophy is mandatory.
Knowledge of European
and Indian philosophical traditions is
desirable. The candidate must be in a position
to develop innovative teaching and research
activities in interdisciplinary areas.
Candidates with knowledge of any particular
domain of Indian “arts” (music, painting,
“poetics”, or sculpture) and competence in
any of the Indian languages will be
preferred.
2. The said Regulations, API format etc.(as per Appendix III, Table I,
categories I, II, III) may be accessed at (http://www.ugc.ac.in/oldpdf/regulations/englishgazette.pdf). Candidates to note that all
self-assessment scores claimed have to be supported by good quality copies objectively
verifiable self-attested documents (Xerox of papers / books / office orders
etc.)
3. Reservation for SC / ST / OBCs and
PWD category candidates for all posts exists as per the guidelines of the UGC /
Government of India. Candidates applying for the reserved posts should clearly
state to which category they belong. They must also enclose self attested
Photostat copy of Caste Certificate / Medical Certificate as applicable from
the concerned competent authorities only failing which their claim will be
rejected. The form of caste certificate to be produced by Other Backward Class
candidates must be in the format as prescribed by the Govt. of India (please
visit website www.ncbc.nic.in for further details). Otherwise, the application
will be summarily rejected without further consideration.
4. The statutory provision for relaxing
of age, experience etc. prescribed in case of the candidates belonging to SC /
ST / OBC / PwD categories will be made applicable to them as per UGC / GOI
norms in force at time of interview. Candidates are advised to check UGC and
other relevant websites for updated information.
5. Age, eligibility as required will be
reckoned as on the last date of application i.e. 8th April 2016. All important certificates duly
self-attested must be attached to the application
6. Canvassing or bringing pressure in
any form on behalf of any candidate will disqualify the candidature.
7. Applications received after the last
date for any reasons whatsoever will not be accepted and summarily rejected. No
further correspondence / enquiry will be entertained in this regard.
8. A higher start in the grade may be
considered for specially qualified candidates.
9. The University reserves the right
to to consider the names of persons with an
outstanding track record who may not have
applied.
10. The University reserves the right
to relax the age in exceptional cases on
the recommendations of the Screening
Committee concerned.
11. The prescribed qualifications and
experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same
will not entitle him / her for being called for interview. The University
reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable
number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed,
or by any other condition that may deem fit.
12. The University will not be
responsible for any postal delay.
13. Physically Handicapped candidates
are exempted from payment of application fee as per the Government of India
Rules.
14. The number of vacancies indicated in
the Employment Notification and this leaflet is tentative. The University
reserves the right to increase / decrease the number of posts, at the time of
selection.
15. The University reserves the right
not to fill up the vacancy advertised without giving any reasons.
16. It would be open to the University to consider the names of suitable
persons who may not have applied, but recommended by experts in their
respective fields.
17. The panel of selected waitlisted candidates will be valid for one year from
the date of approval of competent authority. The process of selection to a post
will be complete if a candidate joins and then leaves the post. Operation of
wait list shall not be valid in such case as the process of recruitment will be
completed.
18. The University may offer lower post to a candidate who may have applied for
a higher post in case suitable candidates are not available for the advertised
posts.
19. Outstation unemployed candidates belonging to SC / ST categories called for
interview will be paid by the shortest route return single second-class railway
fare towards journey expenses on production of origional ticket as proof as
provided under Government of India rules.
20. Selection will be made on the basis of candidates' academic record
(including the
requirement of API scores as envisaged in the
UGC-Regulations regulations referred to above) and their performance in the
interview. The University may utilize seminar or colloquium as a method of
selection.
21. The in-service candidates should apply through proper channel, failing
which the
application is liable to be rejected.
22. Separate application should be submitted for each post with prescribed fee.
23. No interim queries regarding testlinterviewlselection will be entertained.
24. Applications incomplete in any respect will not be considered. University
will not be responsible for any postal delay at any stage.
25. New pension scheme in accordance with the O.M. No. 1(13) EVl2001,
dated15l03l2004, Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance,
Department of Expenditure, will be applicable with subsequent amendments
26. In case of any disputes / suites or legal proceedings against the
University, the
Jurisdiction shall be restricted to the Courts in
Hyderabad, which is the Head quarter of the University.
27. Errors and omissions are subject to corrections.
28. Applications received after the last date or without complete information
or without requisite fee will be summarily rejected. The University will not be
responsible for any postal delay.
29. Application form will have to be downloaded and filled in all respects with
the requisite fee payable through crossed DEMAND DRAFT drawn in favour of ‘THE
ENGLISH AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES UNIVERSITY’ and payable at HYDERABAD and
submitted by hand / postin an envelope duly superscripted "Application for
the post of …………………………' at ………………… campus' addressed to The Registrar, The English
and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad – 500007 should reach latest by 6 pm on 8th April 2016.
