National Insurance Academy (NIA) is an independent, unique Learning and Research Academy established under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance and Public Sector Insurance Companies. Established in the year 1980, NIA has contributed significantly towards education and training in insurance and Management areas. Over the years, NIA has thus gained widespread recognition both in national and international insurance markets. It also runs an AICTE approved PGDM programme in Insurance and Management. It has a unique blend of faculty drawn from pure academics and insurance industry.
Search Committee invites applications from interested candidates who have
                        Proven record of training, teaching, research and publication.
                        Consistent, very good academic background with up to date knowledge in the related field.

Faculty members are expected to coordinate training programs, design and teach courses, engage in research and consultancy activities as well as actively participate in institutional development.
Faculty positions (Professors/Associate Professors/ Assistant Professors) are open in the areas of:
                        Actuarial Science
                        Statistics and related fields
                        Finance and related fields

Minimum Qualification (for all faculty positions): Ph.D. in appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree, with a very good consistent academic record. In addition, for:
1.      Professor: Minimum 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor or at an equivalent level in IIM/IIT or any such other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards.
2.      Associate Professor: Minimum 6 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent level in IIM/IIT.
3.      Assistant Professor: Minimum three years of teaching/research/industrial experience (excluding period of doing Ph.D) or an equivalent level in IIM/IIT.

A fresh Ph.D candidate or those who have submitted their thesis and are yet to defend the same may be considered on contract basis. Retired professors from reputed Academies and having an excellent track record of teaching / research / consulting may also be considered for Full-time Visiting Faculty positions.

The Faculty is entitled to other allowances and benefits as given in Annexure. He/She is permitted to pursue industry consulting with income sharing with the Academy as per rules. On-campus accommodation may be provided, subject to the availability. There will be a probationary period of one year in all cases.
Applications incomplete in any respect will not be entertained by the Academy.
Mere fulfilment of the above mentioned qualifications and experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
The Academy reserves the right to consider and to fill or not to fill positions in any of the above/and or any other specialization(s).
No correspondence, whatsoever, will be entertained from candidates regarding conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview or selection.
All qualifications must be from UGC recognized University/ Deemed University or AICTE approved autonomous institution (wherever applicable). The courses offered by autonomous institutions should be equivalent to the relevant course approved/ recognized by Association of Indian University (AIU).
Relaxation in experience / higher start in the time scale may be considered in the case of exceptionally bright candidates.
Candidates called for interview to fill a vacancy may be considered for lower post if they are otherwise found suitable.
Depending on the academic credentials of the candidate, the Academy may consider them for an offer on a contractual basis of one/two years.

Dearness Allowance and Transport Allowance will be payable as per Central Government / IIM /IIT Rules as announced from time to time.
Benefits: (as per NIA rules)
Provident Fund, Gratuity, Leave, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Benefits, Newspaper reimbursement and Consultancy, etc. will be as per IIM/IIT Rules.
Leave carried from previous employer to be utilized by availing the leave and no encashment facility be available against such leave. All other conditions remain unchanged. LTC is allowed once in a period of two years for travel to home town or once in four years anywhere in India. Reimbursement of maximum, domiciliary medical expenses of Rs. 6000/- per year and preventive health check up of Rs. 2000/- once in 5 years above age 45. Hospitalization Mediclaim Policy for self and spouse (dependent member of the family) for insurance coverage of Rs. 3.5 lacs per head. 1/3rd of the premium is deducted out of salary and 2/3rd premium is incurred by the Academy. Reimbursement of Rs. 4000/- per year towards cost of newspaper and one popular Indian Magazine.
Residential Facilities:
On-campus accommodation may be provided, subject to the availability for which license fee as per rules will be deducted; No House Rent Allowance will be payable as accommodation is provided by the NIA. However, 15% of emoluments will be considered as perquisite as per Income Tax rule.
Travel Entitlements:
Faculty will be entitled to travel by air by economy class while on outstation official duty. In addition, Faculty will be entitled to reimbursement of actual expenses.
Residential Telephone:
Faculty will be provided with mobile & telephone facility at residence for official and limited personal use.
Termination of Contract:
The contract is liable to be terminated by three months’ notice on either side
