Qualifications Essential :- (i) Doctoral degree in Plant Genetics/Plant Breeding/Botany including relevant basic sciences.
(ii) At least 5 years’ experience as Principal Scientist/Professor or in an equivalent position in the Pay Band-4 of `37400-67000 with grade pay of `10000.
OR
An eminent Scientist having proven record of Scientific contribution working in a reputed Organization/Institute having at least 15 years’ experience in the relevant subject.
(iii) Evidence of publication/activities/contribution to suggest that the candidate has a broad vision/perspective on agricultural research.
Desirable : Specialization in the field of crop improvement with special reference to Food Crops.
Duties :-
1. To assist and advise the DDG (Crop Science) in guiding, supervision and coordinating research projects in his field.
2. To assist and advise the DDG (Crop Science) on technical and administrative matters referred to the Council by the Directors of the Institute in the particular division.
3. To remain in close touch with Institutes under his charge by examination of technical programmes & reports by occasional visits, special emphasis being given to items like requirements of additional buildings, equipments or staff and conduct necessary consultations with Directors of the Institutes before the annual estimates are formulated for submission to the Council.
4. To act as Technical Secretary of Scientific panels, Research Review Teams or any other research review groups on their periodical visits to the Institute.
5. To maintain a record of research in progress within his branch and arrange Advisory Boards, Committee Meetings, seminars workshop etc. of research workers as may be desirable to facilitate coordination in research.
6. Any other duty that may be assigned by the Council.
