Post Description

Pay Scale
  Rs. 9,300-34,800/- ( PB-2) plus Rs. 4,600/- (Grade Pay). (Total emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs.20,989/-p.m. approximately)
 
Age
  Not exceeding 30 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 35 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant up to five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time For age concession applicable to some other categories of applicants, please see relevant paras of the ‘Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection.’
 
Essential Qualificaiton (s)
  A. EDUCATIONAL

i) Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
ii) Diploma in Journalism from a recognized University/Institution or equivalent.

B. EXPERIENCE
Three years experience of journalistic, publicity or publication work in a Government Department or any Newspaper/News agency.

NOTE I Direct Recruitment to 13 posts in Senior Grade of IIS, Group-B, shall be made two posts each from Hindi and English and one each from Urdu, Malayalam, Assamese, Kashmiri, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Punjabi and Kannada languages.

NOTE II The candidate must have studied the concerned Indian Languages i.e. Hindi or English or Urdu or Malayalam or Assamese or Kashmiri of Marathi or Gujarati or Oriya or Punjabi and Kannada Language upto Secondary School level.

NOTE III The qualifications are relaxable at the Commission’s discretion in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

NOTE IV The qualification regarding experience are relaxable at the Commission’s discretion in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes in respect of posts reserved for them.

Duty(ies)
  The officers are required to prepare press notes, publicity materials, editorial material and analysis of Press Comments on current topics, compilation of news bulletins and reporting of news for broadcasting, monitoring of news bulletins by foreign broadcasting stations. Organizing exhibitions, writing captions, maintenance of register on newspapers in India. Preparation of research/reference paper and background note in the fields of history, economics and current events for use of press, radio, writers etc.
 
Probation
  Two years.
 
Head Quarter
  Anywhere in India.
